My approach as a director is to understand the tone of an idea. Once I have that, the execution just flows from there; all the visuals, sounds, and rhythms feel tangible. I plan meticulously until I get to set, but once there, I love to have room to try things with actors; that sort of authenticity in performance can only happen in the moment.
